Storms do not make appointments, though a roof can be readied before the season turns. When hail or wind tears up your roof, the claim process feels like a second job on top of the mess. Bork Roofing has walked homeowners through claims since 2004. We handle storm damage roof repair, full replacements and the paperwork behind them, so you deal with one company instead of five phone trees. If water is coming in right now, call us for emergency roof repair. We tarp first and document second.

Warning signs

Signs your roof damage is worth a claim

Look for these after a storm passes:

  • Dents, bruises or dark hits on shingles from hail damage
  • Shingles in the yard, lifted edges or creased tabs from wind damage
  • Water spots on ceilings or in the attic after storm damage
  • Dented gutters, downspouts or soft metal roof vents
  • Granules piling up in gutters right after one storm
  • A tree limb or windblown debris strike anywhere on the roof

One or two of these means the roof needs eyes on it. Schedule a free inspection and get photos on file before weather wears away the evidence. Hail hits fade to the eye within months, but a trained inspector and a camera catch them early.

Insurance help

How our roof insurance claim help works

We follow the same five steps on every claim, big or small:

  1. Inspect and photograph. We cover the roof and the attic during a full roof inspection, then photograph every hit, crease and leak path we find.
  2. Write the scope of work. You get a line-item scope that lists every damaged part: shingles, underlayment, flashing, vents, gutters and anything else the storm touched.
  3. You file the claim. You call your insurer and open the claim. We hand you the photos and the scope so your file starts strong on day one.
  4. We meet the adjuster. The adjuster meeting decides most claims. We stand on the roof with the insurance adjuster and walk every marked hit together.
  5. We build the roof. Once the claim is approved and you accept the scope, we order material and complete the work. Most replacements take one to three days once material arrives.

That is real claim assistance: documentation, a written scope and a roofer at the adjuster meeting. You make the decisions. We supply the evidence.

What to know

How to get insurance to pay for roof replacement?

Document the damage right after the storm. Get a roofer on the roof for photos and a written scope of work. File the claim with your insurer, then have your roofer at the adjuster meeting, working from that scope. Approval comes down to your policy and the evidence.

The homeowners who get full approvals are the ones with complete files. A dated photo set, a line-item scope and an attic check for hidden leaks give the insurer little room to guess. Guesswork is where claims shrink.

Detail

Does homeowners insurance cover roof replacement?

Many policies cover roof replacement when sudden events cause the damage: hail, wind or a fallen tree. Slow wear, old age and neglect are usually excluded. Coverage terms vary by policy, so read yours and ask your agent. We never promise coverage. We document what we find, honestly.

The same logic applies to small jobs. Your roof repair insurance coverage depends on the cause of the damage and your policy type, so a repair claim follows the same rules as a replacement claim. We give the same roof repair claim assistance on a twenty-shingle fix as on a full tear-off: photos, scope, adjuster support.

In practice

Will filing a roof claim raise my insurance rates?

That depends on your policy, your insurer and your claim history. Some insurers adjust rates after storm claims, some do not, and some raise rates area-wide after a big hail event. Nobody can promise your rate stays flat. Ask your agent how your insurer handles storm claims.

Be wary of any roofer who promises otherwise. Rate decisions belong to your insurer, not your contractor. Our job is honest documentation, so the claim you file is a claim worth filing.

The process

What happens when the insurance adjuster inspects my roof?

The insurance adjuster walks the roof, marks test squares, counts hail hits and checks vents, flashing and gutters. They write their own scope of work and estimate. We meet them on site, point out every item we found, and compare their scope with ours line by line.

Adjusters see dozens of roofs after a big storm. A second set of trained eyes on your roof, working from a written scope, keeps small line items from falling off the list.

Good to know

What is the difference between ACV and RCV on a roof claim?

ACV means actual cash value: your roof’s worth after depreciation. RCV means replacement cost value: the cost to replace the roof at current prices. An RCV policy pays the depreciation back after the work is done. An ACV policy does not. Your policy page lists which one you hold.

The gap matters. On an older roof, ACV vs RCV can be the difference between a payment that funds a new roof and one that falls short. Check your declarations page before storm season, and ask your agent which value your policy pays.

A note on deadlines and fine print: policy deadlines, exclusions and terms vary from policy to policy, and we do not quote them. Your own policy is the final word. The Idaho Department of Insurance publishes plain-language claims guidance for homeowners, and it is worth ten minutes of reading before you file.

Cost and quotes

What a roof insurance claim costs you

Your deductible is the part you can read off your declarations page. What else you pay depends on the policy: limits, exclusions, and above all whether you carry ACV or RCV. An ACV policy pays your roof value after depreciation, and that gap does not come back. Upgrades you choose are yours too. Deductible amounts vary by policy, so check your declarations page. Bork’s inspection, photos, scope of work and adjuster meeting come at no charge. For pricing on work outside a claim, see our roof replacement cost guide.

Where we work

Roof insurance claim help across the Treasure Valley

Boise

Hail is patchy. It can hammer one Boise street and skip the next, so a neighbor’s new roof is a good reason to get yours checked the same week. Hail and wind research from IBHS, the insurance industry’s building science lab, backs that street by street pattern. We bring the same documentation to a small repair as to a full replacement: photos, scope, adjuster support. Start with the photos, then decide. See our Boise roofing page for everything we do across the city.

Claim visits cover Boise ZIP codes 83702 through 83716, from streets near the Boise River Greenbelt to the homes off Bogus Basin Road and the blocks along State Street.

Meridian

Meridian subdivisions often share one build year, so a single storm can damage a whole block of similar roofs at once. Adjusters get stacked up fast after events like that. A complete file, with dated photos and a line-item scope, gives the adjuster everything needed to assess it. Start on our Meridian roofing page.

Nampa

Filing a roof hail damage insurance claim in Nampa works the same way it does anywhere in the valley: photos first, scope second, adjuster meeting third. Bring us in before you call the insurer and your file starts out complete. Our crews cover Canyon County from the Star shop. Find local details on our Nampa roofing page.

Star

Our shop sits at 1475 N Hornback Ave in Star, so storm checks for Star homeowners start close to home. We have roofed this town since 2004, and plenty of the roofs we walk each storm season belong to neighbors. If a storm just rolled through, visit our Star roofing page or call the shop.
